This is a brand new and exciting wine to our Hong Kong portfolio. Made by one of the Swartland's rising stars, Craig Hawkins. Made from a 0.7ha block of 32 year old vines planted on a north-west facing slope which has a lot of the exposed Lammershoek granite which is abundant in the Paardeberg. The bush vines are farmed dry-land and organically.
The grapes were picked purely on taste, resulting in a wine that is a healthy 12% in alcohol. No yeasts or other additives were added at any stage. Dry and with a natural acidity of 5.2g/l it was aged in barrel on its original lees without racking for 12 months before bottling without fining and filtering (directly from barrel). Just 1200 bottles produced. If you haven't tried Harslevelu before this is a superb example. Watch out for more of Craig's wines coming soon!
